Restorative Yoga Mini-Retreat with Tracey Ingram (Relax and Renew® Advanced Trainer)
A Weekend of Deep Rest and Renewal – March 20-22
Do you find yourself running on autopilot, checking your phone one last time before bed, or simply wishing for a little more quiet time during the day? In the busyness of modern life, it’s easy to neglect rest and just keep going. “I’ll rest when I sleep,” you might say — but conscious rest and sleep are distinct states, and we need both.
This Restorative Yoga mini-retreat is for anyone who feels the weight of constant doing – whether you’re a parent, caregiver, teacher, creative, professional or simply human. It’s about carving out time for deep rest – a chance to reset your nervous system with Restorative Yoga.
Why Restorative Yoga?
Defined as ‘the use of props to support the body in positions of ease and comfort, to facilitate relaxation and health’, Restorative Yoga is the perfect complement to an active yoga practice, and is often the primary practice on moon days and rest days.
During this weekend, we’ll explore the therapeutic benefits of different postures and posture groups, allowing you to not only experience deep rest but to come away with an adaptable sequence for self-practice or to incorporate into your teaching.
No yoga experience is necessary, nor do you need to already ‘know how to rest’. All you need is a willingness to pause. If you crave stillness but rarely find it, want to address issues like hormonal imbalance, pain or sleep challenges through therapeutic postures, or simply need to recharge, this mini-retreat is for you
About Tracey
Tracey (Relax and Renew® Advanced Trainer) first encountered Restorative Yoga during her Vinyasa teacher training. But it wasn’t until her struggles with a chronic health condition reached boiling point that she truly discovered the practice and all its nurturing benefits. At the point when she could barely do a sun salutation, Restorative became part of her healing process.
Now, guided by her teachers Judith Hanson Lasater, Lizzie Lasater and Adelene Cheong, it is part of her daily life. Although her path was largely prompted by illness, Tracey sees Restorative as both therapeutic and preventative – a meditative tool for wellbeing.
Many of us know how to do more but find it harder to do less. Tracey likes the idea that an active yoga practice represents an inhale and Restorative, an exhale. We need both. She encourages her students to learn to embrace stillness and to make conscious rest a daily habit.
Schedule
Friday 20 March
18:30–20:30
Instead of starting with theory, we’ll begin with practice: a 2-hour Restorative Yoga class to set the tone for the weekend.
Saturday 21 March
12:30–18:00 (with a 30-minute afternoon break)
After exploring the principles of Restorative Yoga and its impact on the nervous system, we’ll break down some of the key postures, including the king of all Restorative poses: Savasana. The Restorative versions are very different from the 5 minutes you might spend lying flat on the floor after an active class (or skipping it altogether). With the head and heart on one level and the body supported with props, Restorative Savasana becomes a vehicle for deep relaxation and wellbeing.
Sunday 22 March
12:30–18:00 (with a 30-minute afternoon break)
We’ll dive deeper into different postures, as well as explore variations of Savasana. You’ll learn which postures and variations are appropriate for which circumstances from both a physical and therapeutic perspective, and learn how to weave Restorative Yoga into your daily routine.
