Mysore practice guidelines
Welcome to Mysore-style practice at The Breathing Space. We’re honored you’ve chosen to share your practice with us. Be kind to yourself and others, be patient, and enjoy the journey.
Booking Your Practice
Pre-book online to reserve your Mysore slot.
You can also sign into class after it has started (make sure you are not looking at “Upcoming activities” in Eversports!).
Doors open at 6:30 a.m. — there’s no need to arrive early.
Arrival & Studio Etiquette
Begin anytime after doors open; finish with enough time to rest before closing.
If you need to leave early, let the teacher know — they’ll help you time your closing sequence.
Please close the door fully behind you (handle up).
Leave valuables in the cupboard inside the studio, as the door remains unlocked during Mysore.
Mobile devices should be turned to airplane mode.
If it’s your first time at the studio, please introduce yourself or stand in samasthiti — I will come to you.
Let the teacher know about injuries or anything else to be aware of.
What to Bring
Your clean, showered self (yes, this matters).
Your own yoga mat (storage available) or borrow one from the studio.
A small towel for adjustments and a practice rug if you use one.
Comfortable, fitted clothing that breathes and allows free movement — we sweat and move in every direction, and seeing your alignment is very helpful for me to assess how you are moving and to see patterns that may be an obstacle to efficient and effective movement.
During Practice
Breathe!
I generally offer hands-on adjustments — let me know if anything feels too strong or inappropriate.
Your practice will grow gradually, posture by posture, as you’re ready.
Be aware of those around you — adjust your space as needed with care and kindness.
Always feel free to ask questions.
Let me know if you’re not feeling well, short on time, or need adaptations — I am here to support you.
After backbending (Urdhva Dhanurasana) and Paschimottanasana, move your mat to the back of the room.
I recommend practicing at least 3 times per week, building consistency over time.
Join a Tuesday or Saturday Led Class occasionally — it helps refine your understanding and strengthens the rhythm of the traditional vinyasa count.
After Practice
Rest in savasana for at least 5–10 minutes.
Pranayama & seated meditation is encouraged — let me know if you’d like help getting started.
Clean your mat and return props neatly.
If you store your mat at the studio, bring it home to air out regularly.
You’re welcome to sip tea after practice — just keep your voice low if chatting.
The practice room closes at 9:00 a.m. — please finish on time to respect the teacher and others.
Thank you for practicing at The Breathing Space
At The Breathing Space, we’re not just building physical strength — we’re building a sustainable, breath-centered yoga practice that supports you on and off the mat.
This is a space for learning and growth. Please ask questions — whether you’re unsure about a posture, need support, or want to deepen your understanding. You are never a bother. Guiding students is not just my job — it’s my dharma.
I am here to meet you where you are, with compassion, curiosity, and decades of experience to support your path.
