Mysore Practice

The beauty of this method is that while we may follow the same breath and postures it is really unique to each of us. Getting to know you and helping you discover the power of this practice is our mission and a deeply gratifying one. So whether you come for five sun salutations or a full practice, the most important thing is that you show up for yourself. And we have a whole community to help you with that.

  • one-to-one attention

  • guidance from experienced teachers

  • learn at a pace suitable to you and your abilities

  • beginners & experienced practitioners practice side-by-side

  • show up as you are

  • you don’t need to know anything or have previous experience to start

Back in the day yoga was always taught one-to-one. Mysore style Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is no different. This is intended as a daily practice with a day of rest, not an all-or-nothing kind of thing, so whether you show up for 5 minutes or 2 hours, the magic happens when you show up as you are.

We rest on days of the full and new moon. On these days we offer a special restorative class, Moon Day Restorative Yoga, instead of mysore.

At The Breathing Space we are committed to getting to know your practice so we can help you grow, encourage you where you need it, and at times give you a loving kick in the pants. Our hope is to give you the space and tools needed to explore, self-reflect, and find your (inner)strength. New to mysore-style practice? Check out our Introduction to Mysore program here.
